Letting Go of Criticism

The other day I was talking to a good friend and she complimented on my ability to open up about my struggles and challenges in my life. She asked me how am I able to do it and not be afraid to be judged. 

To be honest sometimes I am afraid to be judged. Who isn't? But one thing I've learned is that I have to be me whether people like or not. The reality is that I've made mistakes and will be making them in life. Just like you I struggle with different things in my everyday life, so I won't go in life pretending that everything is ok because it isn't always like this. People will always have something to say but I choose not to care whether they liked what I did or not. I have to focus on the things that feel right for me and my family. I've lived my life too long focusing on who others will perceive me and if I measure up to their expectations and you know what I learned? Its an unhappy life when you cannot speak your mind and always afraid of the idea what others will say if you do this and say that. 

We cannot live other people's lives, we can only live our owns. Learn to be comfortable with your own decisions whether they are good or bad. Whatever the outcome it was your decision and you learned from it and lived your life as best you could at your own terms, not anyone else's. Don't focus on the negative criticisms from friends, family or strangers on Facebook is not worth your time and energy. At the end of the day those who truly support and love you will always be there. 

Stop worrying what others will say and begin to worry what YOU THINK and do what feels right for you.
