Berkeley Half Marathon

If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter you've heard about me training for Berkeley Half Marathon which will happen on November 9th. Yeah, so quickly approaching!! Over the weekend I completed my last super LONG run. Though we had some rain this weekend it didn't matter my pink shoes and myself were out there! From here on I will begin to taper and do short runs with combinations of PIYO until days before racing day!

This last month has been beyond exciting for me. I've made strides in breaking thru some of my inconsistencies with my training, combining my love for PIYO to help me avoid injuries, planning & managing my time a lot better! I'll share some of my tips in a future post I am preparing.

Last year I saw this race from our balcony and regretted that I wasn't out there. When September approached decided to sign up and take the SF/Berkeley Challenge. Since I ran the SF Marathon I qualified to run this race and get some nice swag. But beyond the prize my reasons for Running is to push myself to a better time than The SF Half Marathon's. After running the SF Marathon with not great time I saw the many opportunities and drive to improve so this challenge was right what the doctor ordered!

This is the 2nd year this run will happen in Berkeley. The excitement is that part of the course has some modifications from last year. The course will challenge my endurance on incline/hill work, downhill motions (knees get ready) and flat running. Thank goodness I have SF Marathon under my belt for the experience!! Another perk because this race isn't as well known yet I am not expecting crowded course.

Last week I attended the course preview 10mile run and met other Runners participating this race. I usually train and run by myself since I don't have many Running friend's so when I get the opportunity to run with others you know I can't say no. Lucky for me I met a sweet Runner named May who I ended up running alongside for most of the course. It really does help when you have a running buddy because time just flies by as well as pushes you to go faster. When we completed the race she even asked me to run with her if we see each other! What a run nerd I am, all the excitement to get asked all end up forgetting to get her info! HA!

Looking forward to November 9th so much I been dreaming of Running! How funny, right?! If you are Running this race Have fun and Good luck! If you recognize me out there say "Hello" always love meeting other Runners. I'll report back on race results!
