Never too late to Start Over

"For what's it worth: It's never too late to be whoever you want to be. I hope you live a life your proud of, and if you find that you're not, I hope you have the strength to start over."

-F. Scott Fitzgerald

Over the holiday weekend was my 33rd birthday. Our family was blessed to welcome my niece Sophia to this world. I also had the pleasure to spend a weekend with both of my families from my side and Eddie's too.

The year began with huge changes from ending a 9 year run with Old Navy. I had so much growth within that brand and learned so much from a pool of talented individuals who I can call my friends and mentors. Though it was difficult choice to make; I learned where my passion belonged and needed to take a gamble. Making this decision I followed my gut feeling but also seek a higher power to guide me.

About the same time Eddie and I decided to commit to improving our communication skills because until a year before we really sucked at it. I made a promise to slow down in life and focus in our family. We don't have a perfect relationship and at times we  can drive each other nuts but at the end of the day we have a connection/bond that I don't have words to describe it except to compare my emotions to how I feel when I see a sunrise and sundown. This summer we celebrated 10 years together and is 14 years ago that we first met. Now in our 30s we are looking forward to further milestones in our relationship and continuing to grow together.

My approach towards fitness was developed, learned new things and continuing to always seek to finding ways to keep me self motivated. I won't lie at times when I fell short I stopped myself from achieving what I knew I was capable but eventually pulled myself up to start over. Sometimes we are our own worst enemies and I am no exception but I don't let setbacks get me down for too long, sometimes you have to evaluate your priorities, re-strategize your plan, seek help from others and evaluate your priorities to get back on track. With fitness is about achieving inner happiness and of course through that you will see the exterior results.

As you can see it is never late to start over in any aspects of your life. Don't let that inner voice rule you and stop you from changing something you aren't happy with. Don't live a life of frustrations and what Ifs. If you find yourself feeling that way, trust me things won't change. Sometimes tackling change can seem daunting and might take more than one time to get it right.  If those attempts weren't a success don't treat them as failures, what you do gain is wisdom; to make it even greater the next time around. I encourage you to take these 3 steps and write down one thing you'd like to change with your intent.

  2. Thanks for the love! I agree with you even though we hate to fail and go thru that pain if it weren't for those low points is when we grow because we gain strength and courage. There's a quote I found (don't know who said it but it goes like this: "If you don't fail it means your dreams aren't big enough." Funny but the quote was also borrowed from Eddie's little sister too.
