Synthetic Happiness vs Natural Happiness

Recently I came across this lecture from Dan Gilbert from TED. He discusses the differences between Synthetic happiness which is what we make when you get what you didn't want and Natural happiness which is what you get when you get what you wanted.

From my personal experience I've experienced both types of happiness. Whether you want me to decide if one was better than the other…not sure. It would probably depend on what it was.

In order to have happiness I find it that one must have a balance of both happiness from an outcome that is out of your control, accepting and moving forward. But there is also so much joy when something you've worked so hard to achieve happens for you and feels damn good see it come true, right?

There are some ideas that Dan Gilbert brings up that I was surprised by and others is more of oh yeah of course! Anyhow, for a Monday post I thought it was worth to share with you.

Let me know what your thoughts are about this video if any. Enjoy!!
