Rocketdog Rescue

Back in 2006 a co-worker of  mines introduced our team to Rocket Dog Rescue on a volunteer opportunity we had through my company. I had a great time not just by getting a chance to cuddled up with dogs but learned about this organization's core mission "to create a world where all companion animals have loving and permanent homes no matter their age." I was touched even further when I learned more about Pali, Rocket Dog's founder and her background. See below video, it put me to tears when I first saw it.

I had a chance to foster dogs for 3-4 months after my 1st meet with Rocketdog. My volunteering sting might of not been very long but it was life changing teaching me about second chances for dogs that were going to be euthanized due to overcrowding at high kill shelters. Many of these dogs either where abandoned by their owners because they didn't have the patience to correct their behavior issues, too old in age or they were abused (the most devastating).

I fostered 4 dogs including Caleb. My first one was a 20 lb chihuahua/terrier mix and she was beautiful and immediately took to me. I only had her for 1 week but I fell in love with her. It was great to be able to find a home for her but it was tough too. I missed her and cried the entire weekend for her. I was happy for her but I was heartbroken for myself too. They always say your first one is the toughest, and they were right! Caleb was the 4th dog I fostered and the last. After knowing we were the right match It was hard to be away from him and adopted him.

Thank you Rocket Dog Rescue and thank you Pali, you just don't touch so many doggies lives but also touch our human hearts.
